The Mean Green might not win a game this season, but the offense showed more life in its first game with coordinator Mike Canales as the interim coach. In last week’s loss to Western Kentucky, versatile JUCO transfer QB DaMarcus Smith accounted for 350 yards and four touchdown passes.
The Herd is playing as well as anyone in Conference USA this side of Western Kentucky, winning five in a row. Marshall, with its deep stable of backs, should experience little resistance from a North Texas D giving up 50 points per game, more than any other FBS team.
For all intents and purposes, North Texas is an FCS-caliber team, and a bad one at that. Marshall’s ability to run the ball and create havoc with defensive speed will have the Mean Green buried before halftime.
Prediction: Marshall 49, North Texas 13, Line: Marshall -29, o/u: 60
