Maryland vs. Michigan prediction, online live stream and TV broadcast information for Sunday’s game.

The No. 6 Maryland Terrapins will host the Michigan Wolverines in College Park Sunday as they seek to even the season series.

The Terrapins (22-5, 10-4 Big Ten) are in a funk having lost two in a row, including a loss to a Minnesota team Thursday that was 0-13 in Big Ten play. Maryland was without Diamond Stone, but Minnesota came to play early and took advantage of the Terps’ lethargic effort. The Gophers led by 11 at the half and even though Rasheed Sulaimon helped the Terrapins claw back in it, Minnesota sank key free throws down the stretch to seal the upset. Maryland blocked nine shots and won the rebounding battle 32-29, but their 15 turnovers provided the Gophers with some easy buckets. In a night where the Terps struggled all over the floor, Sulaimon was the bright spot with a game-high 28 points, canning 4-of-8 triples from downtown.

The Wolverines (19-8, 9-5 Big Ten) were unable to extend their two-game winning streak as they fell to rival Ohio State, 76-66, in Columbus Tuesday night. Michigan couldn’t overcome the red-hot shooting from Ohio State and faced an eight-point deficit at halftime. Things wouldn’t get better for the Wolverines in the second half. Zak Irvin tipped in a miss to pull Michigan within seven, but that is the closest they would get as the Buckeyes held on for the double-digit win.

Sunday’s matchup between Maryland and Michigan is the ninth all-time and the winner of the game will break a 4-4 tie. The Wolverines took the previous meeting this year, defeating the Terps, 70-67, in Ann Arbor on Jan. 12.

    Prediction

Maryland has not looked like a title contender during its last two games. The good news in Diamond Stone is back in the lineup and a fire should be lit under the Terps at home.

Michigan is without Caris LeVert for the rest of this season, so this is Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton Jr.’s show the rest of the way. Unless the Wolverines find a solid inside presence to battle with Stone, those two won’t be enough to upset the Terps again.

So what does Maryland need to do to avoid a third straight loss? Get Melo Trimble back on track. The star point guard hasn’t been himself since Feb. 3 when he had a 20-point performance vs. Nebraska. Since then, Trimble’s shot an abismal 7-of-38 over four games. The Terps need Trimble to win Sunday and if they want to contend come March.

    Pick: Maryland, 72-66

    Game Notes

    • Rasheed Sulaimon has scored in double figures in six of his last seven games, including a career-high 28-point outing against Minnesota the last time out. The Houston, Texas, native is averaging 14.3 points per game during that span.
    • Zak Irvin has scored a season-best 22 points on two occasions. Both of those games were upset victories over nationally ranked foes (Maryland & Purdue).
    • Sulaimon (50), Melo Trimble (43), Jared Nickens (35), Jake Layman (35) and Robert Carter (20) give the Terrapins multiple threats from long range. In fact, Maryland’s offense relies on three-pointers nearly 37 percent of the time.
