The No. 17 Memphis Tigers will travel to Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday in an American Athletic Conference matchup.

The Tigers (5-0, 2-0 AAC) are coming into this one with a ton of confidence following one of their biggest wins in program history, knocking off No. 13 Ole Miss 37-24 last week. Paxton Lynch, who completed 39 of 53 pass attempts for 394 yards and three touchdowns, led Memphis back from a early 14-0 deficit. It was the fifth straight game in which Lynch had posted 300 or more passing yards for the Tigers, giving them their first win over a top-25 opponent since 1996. Memphis is currently riding a 13-game winning streak, which is the third-longest in FBS football and longest in school history.

The Golden Hurricane (3-3, 0-2) are still trying to find their way in an up-and-down season thus far. Last time out, Tulsa’s fourth quarter rally fell short as it lost to East Carolina 30-17. Dane Evans (19-40, 288 yards, 1 TD) and Zack Langer (18 carries, 76 yards, 1 TD) contributed to the Golden Hurricane’s 17 fourth quarter points, but the hole was too big to climb out of as the Pirates tacked on a touchdown to pull away.

Saturday’s matchup will be the 26th between these two teams, with Memphis holding a 15-10 advantage. The Tigers are hoping to make two in a row after snapping a four-game losing streak last season.

    Prediction

On the road. The week after making national headlines by beating Ole Miss. Yeah, Memphis will be slow out of the gate. The Tigers have already been tested away from the Liberty Bowl by Bowling Green and South Florida, so Tulsa is a legitimate threat … for a half. Sure, Memphis could start slowly, like it did against the Rebels. But the Tigers will finish strong, like they did against the Rebels.

    Game Notes

    • Previous to wins over Kansas and Ole Miss this season, Memphis last defeated multiple opponents from what is now considered Power Five conference in 1996 when the Tigers beat Missouri 19-16 on the road then upset No. 6 Tennessee 25-17 late in the 1996 season.
    • Tulsa enters Friday night’s game ranked sixth nationally in total offense, averaging 546.2 yards per game.
    • Memphis’ four comebacks from double-digit deficits is thought to be the most since UCLA came back from double-digit deficits in five games during the 2005 season, including a 50-38 win over Northwestern in the Sun Bowl after falling behind 22-0.
