The No. 15 Michigan Wolverines will travel to the Twin Cities on Saturday to battle the Minnesota Golden Gophers for the Little Brown Jug.

Coming off a bye week, the Wolverines (5-2, 2-1 Big Ten) are looking to move past their shocking, last-second defeat to Michigan State. The 27-23 loss snapped Michigan’s five game winning streak and three game shutout streak. The Wolverines played well enough to win, as Sione Houma punched in a pair of touchdowns and Jake Rudock managed the game well, but a botched punt returned for a touchdown as time expired lifted the Spartans to the victory.

The Golden Gophers (4-3, 1-2 Big Ten) are playing in their first game without head coach Jerry Kill, who resigned earlier this week. Coming off a bye, Minnesota is rested and looking to bounce back from a 48-25 loss to Nebraska last time out. Mitch Leidner completed 26-of-40 passes for 301 yards with two total touchdowns. The completions and yard totals were career-highs for the quarterback. Leidner’s turnovers caught up with him, however, as he also tossed a couple of picks, one of which was returned 41 yards for a touchdown.

Michigan and Minnesota will play for the Little Brown Jug for the 95th time on Saturday. The Wolverines hold an overwhelming 69-23-2 advantage in the series and are looking to take back the jug from the Gophers who won 30-14 last season.
