Why You Need To Care

As the 2015 season begins to slip away, Middle Tennessee needs to stop the bleeding immediately. The Blue Raiders have lost three straight, imploding against Western Kentucky after nearly upsetting Illinois and Vanderbilt. Florida International is flying high after hammering UTEP, 52-12. And at .500 at midseason, a postseason berth is a realistic goal for the Panthers.

Why Florida International Will Win

If last weekend is any indication, it ought to be a good weekend for the Panther offense. On the same day that FIU erupted for 518 yards, including a slew of long balls through the air from QB Alex McGough, Middle Tennessee was giving up 58 points to Western Kentucky.

Why Middle Tennessee Will Win

Yeah, the wheels came off in Week 6, but this is the same team that came within a few points of knocking off teams from the Big Ten and SEC. The defense has the experience and talent to regroup around LB T.T. Barber, S Kevin Byard and CB Jeremy Cutrer.

Player Who Matters

The Blue Raiders will want to turn loose Barber this weekend after MTSU produced just one sack in the Hilltopper loss. McGough has been very efficient this fall, especially in the direction of WR Thomas Owens, so it’s up to the Raider D to make the sophomore uncomfortable.

What’s Going To Happen?

Middle Tennessee is better than the record. And better than last week’s performance. The Blue Raiders will play with a sense of urgency, with QB Brent Stockstill outplaying McGough in a streak-busting win.
