Matt Rhule turned another solid season at Temple into the Baylor job, so he won’t be around to face Wake. But that stifling defense still will be there, and the Demon Deacons are going to have a tough time penetrating it. The Owls will get enough offense from Jahad Thomas and Ryquell Armstead in the running game to win by a couple scores.

It appears as though John Wolford is going to play in this game despite a shoulder injury. But he won’t be that much of a factor anyway. Cade Carney and Matt Colburn have to move the ball effectively to give the Demon Deacons a chance. But I’m still going with Temple here. P.J. Walker will sling the rock, and Jahad Thomas will provide some pop in the running game. The Owls take this one by two touchdowns.

Dave Clawson’s Demon Deacons will be pumped for this game because it’s a program that does not see the postseason too often. However, it’s a team that struggled down the stretch. How much improvement has Wake made during its bowl practices? Meanwhile, the Owls put behind an early loss to Army and a 1-2 start to win the AAC title. That, however, led to them losing head coach Matt Rhule to Baylor. So Ed Foley will lead the team in this game until Geoff Collins permanently takes over. Foley has been an interim HC before, and the Owls will reward him with a win behind their balanced offensive attack. The Demon Deacons just don’t have enough firepower to match them.

    Brian Stultz

Head coach Matt Rhule is gone, but the Owls are still loaded with talent on offense and a stout defense that holds opponents to 17.2 points per game. I especially like what I see from running back Jahad Thomas, who is quick to burst through the holes and has a nose for the end zone.

With everything going on surrounding the Wake Forest program, I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t exactly focused for this game. Temple rolls.
