NCAA Tournament Projections: No. 1 Seeds

After a record six of the top ten teams lost this weekend, the battle for the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament is more chaotic than ever. These are my projected No. 1 Seeds as it stands in the second week of February.

After a record six of the top ten teams lost this weekend, the battle for the top seeds in the NCAA Tournament is more chaotic than ever. These are my projected No. 1 Seeds as it stands in the second week of February.

    Villanova

The most consistent team all year. The gold standard in a tough Big East. 7-1 vs the RPI top 50. Josh Hart is arguably the nation’s best player and the nation’s reigning champs have shown no sign of a letdown.

    Kansas

Neutral site win against Duke, true road win at Kentucky and a home win against Baylor give the Jayhawks credibility as a No. 1 seed. A vulnerable team,  but Frank Mason III could be capable of a 2011 Kemba Walker-esque type run to a title.

    Oregon

The beat down of Arizona put the nation on notice. Pair that win with the one vs UCLA and its apparent the Ducks are the class of the Pac-12. A one seed a year ago, they look every bit the part in 2017.

    Gonzaga

Yes they belong. They are undefeated. And it’s not because of a lack of competition. A perfect 6-0 against the RPI top 50 with wins over power 5’s like Florida, Iowa State, and Arizona. This is the best team Mark Few has ever had.
