5 Texas A&M Texas Bowl Predictions, Storylines

Texas A&M is set to take on Kansas State in the Texas Bowl, so here are some storylines and predictions for the Aggies ahead of the game.

Texas A&M had an up-and-down season, starting out 5-0 before losing four out of the last six, including a 54-39 loss to LSU in the closer. The Aggies will try to gain some momentum going into the offseason with a win against Kansas State.

Here are five thoughts and predictions as the Aggies take on the Wildcats in the Texas Bowl on December 28.

How Will He Go Out?

Quarterback Trevor Knight’s career has been a whirlwind, starting out at Oklahoma and eventually settling in at college Station for this season. Throwing 16 touchdowns and six interceptions this season, Knight also missed two games late in the season due to injury. Can he put together a big performance in his collegiate swan song?

How Will He Go Out, Part II?

Defensive end Myles Garrett will likely be a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations in 2016. An injury has a lot to do with that, as 32 total tackles is all he was able to produce.

No Noil

After turning himself in for marijuana possession, A&M wide receiver Speedy Noil will miss the game. No worries for the Aggies, though, as Christian Kirk and Josh Reynolds are still there as targets.

Expectations

Don’t be surprised if head coach Kevin Sumlin enters the 2017 season on the hot seat. The Aggies have had wonderful recruiting classes, own some of the nation’s best facilities, but have not come close to winning the SEC West since joining the conference back in 2012. Winning means a lot, especially in the Lone Star State, and Texas hiring Tom Herman will add the fuel to the fire if Sumlin’s team remains mediocre.

Home-Field Advantage

The Aggies aren’t playing at Kyle Field, but they will enjoy quite a crowd advantage with the bowl being played in nearby Houston.
