Alabama and Clemson will play in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 9. Here are the betting odds for when the Crimson Tide square off against the Tigers.
The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is set, and there no doubt will be plenty of wagers placed leading up to the Jan. 9 game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.
No. 1 Alabama earned its way to the title game with a 24-7 win over No. 4 Washington in the Peach Bowl, overcoming an early 7-0 deficit and dominating the Huskies the rest of the way. Crimson Tide defensive end Jonathan Allen was a force all evening as Washington struggled to get anything going offensively following Jake Browning’s touchdown pass to Dante Pettis in the first quarter.
Alabama sophomore running back Bo Scarbrough had a huge game on the ground, going for 180 yards and two touchdowns, including a 68-yard score in the fourth quarter that put the game away. The momentum swung toward the Crimson Tide’s favor when Ryan Anderson returned a Browning interception 26 yards for a touchdown with just 1:13 left in the first half.
The Tide entered the game as a 13.5-point favorite.
They’ll take on Clemson on Monday, Jan. 9, as they look to claim a second straight national championship. The Tigers earned their way to Tampa with a 31-0 win over the Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl, handing Urban Meyer his first shutout as a head coach.
Dabo Swinney’s squad enjoyed an emphatic victory over Meyer’s Buckeyes in the desert, as the Ohio State offense was unable to muster much against a physical, speedy and aggressive Brent Venables-coordinated defense. Despite a couple of more interceptions from Heisman Trophy runner-up Deshaun Watson, the Tigers fully utilized their wide array of dynamic offensive personnel as well as their nasty defense to earn another shot at ‘Bama in the title game.
Ohio State entered the game as a 1.5-point favorite.
