Alabama Fans Tell Former Clemson Star QB Deshaun Watson To Leave Tuscaloosa Bar

Some Alabama fans gave former Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson a hard time on Friday, asking the two-time Heisman finalist to leave a Tuscaloosa bar.

Apparently it’s not the best idea for a star football player who prevented Alabama from claiming another national championship to go into a Tuscaloosa watering hole.

But that’s what former Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson did on Friday, and he wasn’t exactly given the best treatment.

The two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, who helped lead the Tigers over the Crimson Tide in January for their first national title since 1981, stopped into a bar while he was in town. When some Innisfree Irish Pub patrons—including two former football players—saw him in the establishment, they weren’t pleased.

Some Crimson Tide fans told Watson to leave one of Tuscaloosa’s most popular bars, with one person claiming on Twitter that former Tide linebacker Ryan Anderson approached Watson and told him to go. Anderson can be seen behind Watson in the background of a video. Another video was released later in the night showing Anderson and former Tide player Wallace Gilberry confronting Watson.

The former star QB ended up leaving the establishment, but Innisfree released a Facebook post regarding the incident.

“Unfortunately a customer attempted to invoke the right to refuse service on our behalf and after being identified, was immediately asked to leave the premises following the incident,” the bar wrote. “We apologize for any inconvenience this incident caused to our customers. We appreciate anyone that chooses to visit our establishment and hope to continue welcoming sports fans for years to come.”

Only in college football.
