Alamo Bowl Prediction Roundtable – What’s Going To Happen

Alamo Bowl prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen between Colorado and Oklahoma State.

The job Mike MacIntyre has done at Colorado is something to celebrate. He’s completely turned around the program, and it’s plausible to think the Buffs will be competing for Pac-12 titles for years to come. This would be a big win for the program, and I think they’ll get it. Oklahoma State will make it close, but the Buffs pull it out with a late score.

Mason Rudolph had a great season, and he’s looking to build upon that next year when he returns for his senior season. He’ll have a solid showing in this one to help get that process started and improve his draft stock for the 2018 draft, but he won’t be able to lead the Cowboys to a win here. Phillip Lindsay will bust a few nice runs, and Colorado will win a close one.

Be prepared for a fast-paced, up-and-down contest that should be fun to watch—although it will be hard to live up to last year’s TCU-Oregon triple-overtime contest in San Antonio.

After a 2-2 start, the Cowboys won seven in a row before falling to rival Oklahoma. Quarterback Mason Rudolph has top weapons in receivers James Washington and Jalen McCleskey, while true freshman Justice Hill reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark. But the defense ranked No. 89 in yards per play allowed.

Meanwhile, the Buffaloes have a very strong defense that could frustrate the Pokes’ offensive attack. And this is a program that has not tasted such success in a very long time. For the most part, the Colorado secondary will neutralize the Cowboys receivers despite Jim Leavitt leaving for Oregon and Joe Tumpkin now acting as defensive coordinator. While they did go through four different kickers this season, the Buffaloes have enough on both sides of the ball to notch a close win, as they have been more battled-tested throughout this season.

Over/under on shots of the Alamo? 11? More? 37? I’ve never understood the appeal of the building, as our forefathers were absolutely destroyed there. Count me in for Normandy or someplace where we won, not the Alamo.

As for the game, Colorado wins and Mike MacIntyre celebrates with Buffs fans by ripping his shirt off and revealing a Widespread Panic tattoo on his chest.
