AP Top 25 College Football Rankings – Week 13

AP Top 25 college football rankings heading into Week 13 of the 2016 season. Louisville lost, but the rest of the top teams took care of business.

Many felt Louisville deserved more respect than it received from the College Football Playoff committee Tuesday night. All the Cardinals did, though, was prove they weren’t ready to compete for a national title.

Louisville’s loss to Houston on Thursday night ruined its Playoff hopes and caused it to slip in the newest AP Top 25 poll. The Cardinals fell from No. 3 down to No. 11. Michigan replaced Louisville in the third spot, moving up one position after hanging on to beat Indiana. The Wolverines battle the No. 2 Buckeyes on Saturday in Columbus, and a loss will diminish one team’s Playoff chances.

Alabama is still the clear No. 1 ahead of the Big Ten powers, but the conference also kept two others in the top 10 with No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 8 Penn State.

The Pac-12 also is well represented with No. 6 Washington, No. 9 Colorado and No. 12 USC. Two Group of Five schools rounded at the poll at No. 24 and No. 25 with San Diego State and Troy last week, but both fell out with losses this week.

Houston’s win over Louisville vaulted it back into the poll at No. 18. Tennessee also rejoined at No. 24

Here’s a look at the rest of the AP Top 25 that was released Sunday afternoon.
