4-Star QB Braxton Burmeister Flips From Arizona To Oregon

Four-star quarterback Braxton Burmeister has flipped from the Arizona Wildcats to the Oregon Ducks. Oregon now sits at No. 28 in the recruiting class rankings.

Willie Taggart continues to make an immediate impact at the University of Oregon. On Friday, 4-star quarterback Braxton Burmeister flipped his commitment from the Arizona Wildcats to the Ducks.

Burmeister had been committed to Arizona since May 13, but had wavered of late. News of his flip comes roughly a week after the signal caller was non-committal about whether he’d sign with either the Wildcats or Ducks.

“I’m going to enroll early at either place,” he told The Oregonian last week. “Enrolling at either sometime next week.”

As it turns out, Taggart turned on the heat immediately after the recruiting dead period ended, and landed himself a talent. Burmeister is ranked as the No. 3 quarterback out of California, and is currently the only QB commit in the Ducks’ 2017 class. He’s the fourth commit Taggart has landed since becoming Oregon’s head coach late last year. The Ducks now sit at No. 28 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with under a month remaining in the cycle.

In sum, Friday was a banner day for Oregon football on the recruiting front. Aside from Burmeister’s commitment, the Ducks named Mario Cristobal as the program’s co-offensive coordinator. Cristobal had served the past four years as offensive line coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Possessing deep South Florida roots, Cristobal is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most gifted recruiters, having been named college football’s top recruiter in 2015 by Rivals, Scout and 247Sports.

In landingĀ a 4-star quarterback from California and announcing Cristobal’s hiring on the same day, Taggart has left little doubt that he intends for Oregon to be a national brand.
