Brett McMurphy’s AP Top 25 Ballot for Week 3: LSU and Cal leap, Michigan falls

The names have slightly changed at the top of my Associated Press Top 25 ballot, but the conference hierarchy remains the same. Two weeks in and my AP Top 25 ballot is still top-heavy with SEC teams.

Last week, I had three SEC teams in my top four (No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Auburn). This week, I still have Georgia and Alabama at Nos. 2-3, but I moved LSU up to No. 4.

LSU had the most impressive victory of the week, taking down Texas 45-38 in Austin. Not even Matthew McConaughey roaming the sideline and a raucous Texas home crowd could slow down LSU’s offensive juggernaut. LSU’s offensive juggernaut?  I never thought I’d type those three words in my life.

Clemson remains at No. 1 on my ballot after defeating Texas A&M.

Only two teams dropped out of my top-25 ballot from last week – Nebraska, after losing in overtime at Colorado, and Washington, after losing to Cal. Cal and UCF are newcomers to my ballot this week.

My AP ballot (last week):

1. Clemson (1)
