Brett McMurphy’s College Football AP Top 25 Ballot After Week 11

Not much change from last week in my Associated Press Top 25 ballot. Well, make that no changes among the top 11. My top 11 teams from last week stay the same since they all won this weekend and none were impressive enough to leap frog the team or teams in front of them.

The back half of my Top 25 looks a lot different. Dropping out of my rankings: Fresno State, Boston College, Iowa and Mississippi State. Moving into my rankings this week: Penn State, Northwestern, Cincinnati and Buffalo.

Here is my latest Associated Press Top 25 ballot through games of Nov. 10 (where I ranked each team last week in parenthesis):

1. Alabama (1)
2. Clemson (2)
3. Notre Dame (3)
4. Michigan (4)
5. Georgia (5)

6. Washington State (6)
7. West Virginia (7)
8. Oklahoma (8)
9. Ohio State (9)
10. LSU (10)

11. UCF (11)
12. Texas (16)
13. Utah State (13)
14. Iowa State (20)
15. Syracuse (17)

16. Washington (21)
17. UAB (19)
18. Army (22)
19. Utah (23)
20. Florida (25)

21. Penn State (NR)
22. Northwestern (NR)
23. Kentucky (15)

25. Buffalo (NR)

Peeking ahead to this week:

College Football Playoff impact game

Syracuse vs. Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium

Notre Dame is only 120 minutes – and two wins – from making the College Football Playoff. Saturday, the Irish battle Syracuse and the following week visit USC. Two wins and the Irish are in. Syracuse is out of the running for the College Football Playoff, but if the Orange upset Notre Dame and win at Boston College the following week, Syracuse could be headed to a New Year’s 6 bowl.

Games of the “weak”

Take your pick. There are a ton of stinkers this week. Here are just a few: The Citadel at Alabama, Idaho at Florida, Rice at LSU. This is the week before the traditional regular season finales, so there is a plethora of FBS vs. FCS matchups this week.

Stat of the week

5-8. Since Miami started 10-0 last season, the Hurricanes are only 5-8 in their last 13 games.
