4-Star C Cesar Ruiz Commits To Michigan Wolverines

Four-star center Cesar Ruiz committed to Michigan on Monday, giving the Wolverines 23 total commits in their 2017 recruiting class.

It’s been a pretty great week for Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines.

Even though they missed out on 4-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, who committed to Georgia, Harbaugh’s staff did add to the offensive line.

On Monday, 4-star center Cesar Ruiz committed to Michigan, as the Wolverines now have 23 total commits in the 2017 recruiting cycle. With the addition of Ruiz, Michigan moves up from No. 5 to No. 4 in the recruiting class rankings, but it’s now only three points behind No. 3 Ohio State (3,951).

He chose to commit to Jim Harbaugh’s staff over Auburn, Florida and North Carolina. However, Ruiz also held a number of scholarship offers from Power Five programs like Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee and others.

The addition of Ruiz comes on the heels of two big pledges the Wolverines added to their wide receiver group last week. It started on Wednesday when 4-star wide receiver Tarik Black committed to Michigan, and the momentum carried over to Thursday when 5-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones picked the Wolverines, too.

At 6-foot-3, 321 lbs Ruiz will bring a ton of quickness off the line of scrimmage. He keeps his numbers to the sky with a low pad level, and climbs to the second level quite easily. He’s a well-rounded center capable of creating holes in the run game and cleaning up the A-gaps in pass protection.

He’ll join Michigan’s three 4-star offensive line commits (Kai-Leon Herbert, Andrew, Stueber and Jaraymond Hall) and 3-star offensive tackle Joel Honigford.
