4-Star OL Chasen Hines Reopens Recruitment

Four-star offensive lineman Chasen Hines has decided to reopen his recruitment after narrowing it down to five schools in February.

Sometimes, it won’t hurt to take a step back and reevaluate things. It can add clarity and perspective, which are especially important if you’re a high school football recruit and have multiple schools knocking down your door, trying to get you to commit to their respective programs.

That’s why 4-star prospect Chasen Hines has decided to broaden his horizons and reopen his recruitment to all teams.

The decision for the Marshall, Texas native comes almost a month after he narrowed down his recruitment to five schools. In alphabetical order, Hines’ top schools were LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas.

Hines, who is ranked as the No. 3 center and No. 292 overall player in the country, released a statement regarding his decision to take a step back in his recruitment.

“I want to apologize to all the coaches, first and foremost, if I’ve seemed distant. But with a lot of thinking, I have decided to reopen my recruiting [process]. Nothing personal, [I] just want to keep my options open.”

There has been some new activity in his recruitment. On Friday, Hines received a scholarship offer from Oregon, which was one day after Arizona offered him.

The perceived frontrunners for Hines’ commitment are LSU and Texas. But, as more offers trickle in, it’s wise of Hines to analyze the options in front of him and make a decision based on what’s best for his future.
