4-Star OT Chuck Filiaga Commits To Michigan Wolverines

Four-star offensive tackle Chuck Filiaga committed to Michigan, giving the Wolverines 27 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

A decision has been made by the nation’s No. 125 overall player, and it’s leading him to Ann Arbor.

On Saturday, at the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, 4-star prospect Chuck Filiaga committed to Michigan. The Wolverines now have 27 total commits in their 2017 recruiting class but still sit at No. 3 in the class rankings behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Georgia.

Filiaga, who’s ranked as the No. 15 offensive tackle in the country, chose Michigan while holding 20-plus offers from a wide range of Power Five schools. Aside from his trip to Ann Arbor on Oct. 1, Filiaga also spent official visits at Oklahoma, Oregon and Nebraska.

At 6-foot-6, 335 lbs., Filiaga has the versatility to play on both sides in the trenches, but he’ll fit right into the Wolverines’ offensive line. He has the length, reach and power to stay put at offensive tackle. He does a great job of gaining leverage off the ball with his hand placement and pad level, and he will bury defensive linemen into the ground if they stand too tall on the line.

Filiaga really shows off his athleticism in the screen game. He does a great job of selling the screen and then getting out into space, locating a defender and picking up a pancake while creating a running lane for the tailback. He’s a nasty run blocker and is the type of guy who doesn’t stop until he hears the whistle.
