College Football News Roundup – January 30

A college football news roundup that includes Alabama’s assistant strength coach being arrested for a DUI and Texas Tech dismissing a talented freshman wide receiver.

You know where I wish we would build a wall? Between me and fast food restaurants on weekends. That way, every Saturday or Sunday morning, I wouldn’t be able to walk a block to McDonald’s and order an unhealthy bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and a large fountain Coke. That wall would help me eat healthier. Let’s make my waistline great again, people!

In college football news, we take a look at the top prospect from each state heading into National Signing Day, 10 SEC non-conference games that everyone should look forward to in 2017, and Arizona’s hiring of Alabama wide receiver coach Billy Napier as the Wildcats offensive coordinator. Here are some other newsworthy notes in the latest college football news roundup.

Nick Saban Is Going To Be Mad – After being found “passed out” in his vehicle early Sunday morning, Alabama’s assistant strength coach Josh Chapman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Chapman, who played for the Crimson Tide from 2007-11, joined the staff prior to this past season.

That Was Quick Bronson Boyd had probably not even finished unpacking in Lubbock before the freshman wide receiver, who enrolled early, was kicked off the team. It is a big hit to the Red Raiders, as Boyd was a four-star prospect out of Arlington.

As of post, no reason has been given for his dismissal.

From The Plains To Chapel Hill – Former Auburn wide receiver Stanton Truitt has committed to North Carolina and will be able to play immediately as a graduate transfer.

“I love North Carolina,” Truitt said. “I loved it. Just the school. The Business Department especially to get my Master’s Degree. I got to hang out with the players and coaches. Everything is straight. My family trusted them and one another there.”
