College Football Recruiting Rankings – Dec. 22, 2016

College football recruiting rankings update as of Dec. 22, 2016. Michigan is making its move up into the top five, while Alabama still holds the top spot.

Jim Harbaugh’s staff is making its move, and is surging while the recruiting dead period trudges on. The Wolverines have climbed all the way up to No. 2 from their previous ranking at No. 6.

Michigan added a highly-touted crop of prospects within the last week alone: 5-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, 4-star wide receiver Tarik Black, 4-star center Cesar Ruiz and 4-star defensive end Deron Irving-Bey. Now, Michigan sits only 653 recruiting points behind No. 1 Alabama.

One other shake-up came when Georgia fell from its spot at No. 2 to No. 5 after 4-star running back Carter flipped his commitment to his home-state Texas Longhorns. However, that move wasn’t entirely his decision. With the return of halfbacks Nick Chubb and Sony Michel for their senior seasons, Carter’s offer was reportedly pulled. That came on the heels of 4-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson committing to the Bulldogs over the Wolverines, Crimson Tide and others.

LSU also slid up the rankings when 4-star quarterbacks Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse re-committed after previously opening up their recruitments. They both wavered on their pledges while the Tigers were searching for a new offensive coordinator, but the hiring of former Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada helped supply some reassurance.

Below are the current top 25 teams for the college football recruiting rankings.
