Report: Davis Webb Heading To Cal

Davis Webb has decommitted from Colorado and is reportedly headed to Cal for his final year of eligibility.

Prized Texas Tech quarterback transfer Davis Webb had committed to the Colorado Buffaloes back in January.

It wasn’t long after his commitment, though, that reports started whirling around about Webb considering other transfer options despite his verbal announcement to join Buffs head coach Mike MacIntyre.

Sure enough, Webb has now reportedly confirmed this news to’s Bruce Feldman.

This is a major pickup for the Golden Bears, as head coach Sonny Dykes was in search of a replacement for former Cal star quarterback and No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff. Webb will slot into Cal’s starting quarterback hole perfectly, though he does have some big shoes to fill.

In his time with Texas Tech, Webb started 14 games combined between the 2013 and 2014 seasons. He lost the starting role to Patrick Mahomes in 2015, only playing in five games last season.

In his career with the Red Raiders, Webb completed 62 percent of his 747 passes for 5,557 yards, 46 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions.

Webb was also considering Auburn as a destination. He is immediately eligible to play in 2016, as a graduate transfer in his final year of eligibility.
