4-Star JUCO OT D’Marcus Hayes Commits To Georgia Bulldogs

Four-star JUCO offensive tackle D’Marcus Hayes committed to Georgia on Monday, giving the Bulldogs 19 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs may have missed out on 4-star inside linebacker Monty Rice on Monday afternoon, but they were able to add to the trenches.

Four-star JUCO offensive tackle D’Marcus Hayes committed to Georgia, capitalizing on the offer he received from Smart’s staff on Oct. 29. The addition of Hayes gives the Bulldogs 19 total commits in their 2017 recruiting cycle. UGA sits at No. 3 in the recruiting class rankings behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State.

Hayes, from Madison, Mississippi, chose Georgia after taking an official visit to Athens this past weekend. He released a brief statement regarding his decision.

“[I’m] very blessed to announce that I will be playing for the University of Georgia next season.”

At 6-foot-5, 330 lbs., Hayes brings another body — another big body at that — to the Bulldogs. UGA has 20 offensive linemen on its roster right now, and eight of them are upperclassmen.

Georgia also has commitments from 4-star offensive tackle Andrew Thomas, 4-star offensive tackle D’antne Demery, 4-star offensive guard Netori Johnson and 4-star offensive guard Justin Shaffer. So, offensive line coach Sam Pittman will have plenty to work with in Athens.

Before he committed to UGA, Hayes did spend an official visit in Starkville on the weekend of Nov. 18 to see Mississippi State lose to Arkansas, 58-42.

Auburn was also in the running for his commitment. Hayes unofficially visited on Sept. 3 when the Tigers opened up the season with a 19-13 loss to Clemson.
