Projecting Where 4-Star LB Drew Singleton Will Commit

Four-star running back Drew Singleton will announce his commitment on the evening of December 23. The Campus Insiders staff offers up its predictions regarding where the nation’s No. 4 outside linebacker will end up.

Hard to see Michigan missing out on this one. The Wolverines are, by far, the hottest team on the recruiting trail right now – in the dead period, no less. Moreover, Jim Harbaugh has planted his flag firmly in the state of New Jersey – remember the great satellite camp battle of 2016 between Michigan and late-arrival Ohio State – and employs the services of Paramus Catholic High School’s last two great players, Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary. Toss in the fact that Singleton took an official visit to Ann Arbor a mere 48 hours before the dead period hit, and that’s just one more thing tilting scales in favor of the Wolverines.

I mean, maybe Brent Venables can point to Vic Beasley and Shaq Lawson playing on Sundays, as well as a pair of consecutive CFP trips to reel in Singleton, but that would be quite a surprise. Michigan continues its strong run up to the holidays.

Michigan all the way. Jim Harbaugh plucked No. 1-overall recruit Rashan Gary from the same high school last year, and he’ll score again with Drew Singleton, giving the Wolverines back-to-back elite linebacker commits in two days. Fellow four-star outside linebacker Jordan Anthony committed on Thursday evening. The Wolverines also pulled Jabrill Peppers from the same high school back in 2014. The pipeline’s flow to Ann Arbor is just too strong.

One of these days, a big announcement for a standout recruit will go the way of Michigan State. That would please me greatly. Alas, Mark Dantonio and the Spartans have no shot here, and people in and around Ann Arbor will be celebrating once again.

Clemson would be a dark horse if Singleton was giving Dabo Swinney one last chance to impress him in the College Football Playoff. But with his decision coming Friday, it appears Singleton has seen enough.

Jim Harbaugh has recruited hard on the East Coast, especially New Jersey, with the Wolverines having plucked Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary over the past couple years. Michigan received a big commitment Thursday night from Jordan Anthony – through Campus Insiders, no less! – and it’ll get another one tonight from Singleton.

One day, fellow Spartan fans, one day …
