For the fans questioning whether Elijah Blades is solid in his commitment, he cleared the air on Monday.
There have been some rumblings that 4-star cornerback Elijah Blades may change course on his Florida commitment, with both the Nebraska Cornhuskers and hometown USC Trojans in hot pursuit, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. At least as of Monday, January 2. The Pasadena, California prospect tweeted out a photo on the same day the Gators manhandled Iowa in the Outback Bowl, reaffirming that he’s headed east to suit up for the Orange and Blue.
“For the fans that’s wondering about my commitment,” Blades wrote on Twitter with a picture of him sporting a Gators shirt and shorts with the team’s logo.

Blades has been committed to Florida since June 22. He’s a lengthy cornerback at 6-foot-3 with burning speed and solid coverage skills. He will have to put on some weight, checking in at just 170 pounds, but that will come in a college training and dietary regimen. With the impending departures in Florida’s secondary, Blades will have the opportunity to immediately compete for playing time in Gainesville.
