Final 2016-17 College Football Bowl Projections

The last set of college football bowl projections for the 2016 season heading into Selection Sunday. Alabama remains the No. 1 team in the country, but how will the rest of the College Football Playoff shake out?

We have finally arrived at Selection Sunday, so the third College Football Playoff field will soon be announced.

Expect unbeaten and defending national champion Alabama to be the No. 1 seed after the Crimson Tide dismantled Florida in the SEC title game. Nick Saban’s squad finished the game with the second-most points ever scored on the Gators, topped only by Florida’s 62-24 setback to Nebraska for the national championship in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.

But what other teams will be joining ‘Bama in the CFP?

Expect Clemson to be in as ACC champion, while Washington certainly has a strong argument as Pac-12 champ. But what about the Big Ten? Is Ohio State going to get in over a two-loss Big Ten champion Penn State, which defeated the Buckeyes in the regular season? Or is the argument more about the Huskies getting in ahead of the Nittany Lions?

One thing is certain: Selection Sunday will be full of intrigue.

So where is your favorite school destined to be for the holidays?

Semifinal No. 1 – Fiesta Bowl

Date: Dec. 31
Location: Glendale, Arizona
Tie-ins: CFP No. 2/CFP No. 3
Fiesta Bowl Projection: No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 Ohio State

The Tigers claimed another ACC title on Saturday night, as Dabo Swinney’s squad beat Virginia Tech, 42-35, and Deshaun Watson bolstered his Heisman Trophy candidacy by passing for three touchdowns and running for two more.

Meanwhile, the Buckeyes did not advance to the Big Ten championship game, but their body of work will be rewarded by the selection committee.

Semifinal No. 2 – Peach Bowl

Date: Dec. 31
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Tie-ins: CFP No. 1/CFP No. 4
Peach Bowl Projection: No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington

The Crimson Tide will advance to the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row, and Nick Saban’s squad will be seeking its second straight national title and its fifth crown in the last nine years. Dynasty.

Meanwhile, Taylor Rapp returned one of his two interceptions for a touchdown and Myles Gaskin ran for 159 yards to help the Huskies claim a 41-10 victory over Colorado in the Pac-12 championship game on Friday night. There could be some debate between the Huskies and Penn State, but I believe U-Dub will get the nod.
