Five-Star Power Forward P.J. Washington Commits To Kentucky

Five-star power forward P.J. Washington has committed to Kentucky. He is the No. 1 power forward and No. 14 overall recruit in the 2017 class.

They don’t rebuild, they just reload.

As part on ESPNU’s National Signing Day, five-star power forward P.J. Washington has announced his commitment to the Kentucky Wildcats.  A 6-foot-8, 230-pound prospect out of Findlay Prep in Firsco, Texas, Washington is the No. 1 power forward and No. 14 overall recruit in the class of 2017.

Washington is one of the most versatile prospects in the country, and his 7-foot-2 wingspan allows him to cover and post up against bigger defenders. His ideal length allows him to be a force on the glass, as rebounding is his strongest quality. He has a strong motor and is constantly hustling for loose balls in the paint, putting in the extra effort that every coach wants to see.

Offensively, Washington’s three-point shot is a work in progress, but his mid-range game is solid. He has a nice touch around the rim and can do damage on the block with a consistent hook shot.

Prior to his decision, Washington had taken four official visits to Arizona, North Carolina and Texas, along with Kentucky. He also held offers from and was considering Kansas and UNLV.

He is the first member of Kentucky’s 2017 class.
