Georgia vs. Georgia Tech Game Preview

When: Saturday, November 26 – 12:00 p.m. ET
Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
TV Broadcast: SEC Network

Georgia won its third straight game with a 35-21 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday. Running back Nick Chubb rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown while freshman quarterback Jacob Eason threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Georgia Tech defeated Virginia, 31-17, to improve to 7-4 on the season. The Yellow Jackets typically potent rushing attack was held to just 199 yards, but quarterback Justin Thomas completed five passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

What To Know About Georgia

Just a freshman, and despite struggling at times, Eason has shown why he’s the quarterback of the future in Athens this season. Having Chubb and Sony Michel in the backfield has helped a lot. Look for those two to try and get going against a Yellow Jackets defense that gives up 166.09 yards per game on the ground.

The defense gave up 276 rushing yards against Louisiana-Lafayette and will now have to stop the Georgia Tech triple-option attack. The Yellow Jackets average 260.27 yards on the ground per game, so forcing them to pass would be of great benefit to the Dawgs.

What to Know About Georgia Tech

The same triple-option attack that Georgia Tech has run since Paul Johnson arrived is still installed, so don’t expect many passes flying into the Georgia secondary. The Yellow Jackets will try and control the clock and keep the chains moving, wearing out the Dawgs defense in the process.

On defense, stopping the duo of Chubb and Michel and forcing the young Eason into beating them with his arm will be the top priority for Georgia Tech.

Advantages

Offense: Georgia – Chubb and Michel are a deadly combination.

Defense: Even – Georgia shut down Auburn’s running game. Can they do the same to Tech?

Special Teams: Georgia – Freshman kicker Rodrigo Blankenship could be the next great SEC kicker.

Coaching: Even – Johnson has responded after a terrible season last year.

Intangibles: Georgia – The future is bright, but the Dawgs don’t want to hear about losing to Georgia Tech all offseason.

Matchup To Watch

Nick Chubb vs. Georgia Tech defense

Will this be Nick Chubb’s last game in Sanford Stadium? If so, expect him to have a big game against a Tech defense that allows 166.09 rushing yards per game.

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech Betting Odds

Spread: Georgia -4.5
Over/Under: 48

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech Prediction

This will be a hard-hitting game that will come down to which team can control the ball on the ground. The advantage for Georgia is that Eason can throw the ball when needed, as he has a big, accurate arm. It will be another close one, but with the home crowd behind them, the Dawgs will outlast Georgia Tech. Georgia by six.

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech Final Score Prediction: Georgia 27, Georgia Tech 21
