Ohio State, Notre Dame Going Hard After 2018 4-Star ATH Houston Griffith

Houston Griffith, a 4-star athlete in the 2018 class, says he has a couple schools in mind and won’t narrow down his list until the summer.

Four-star athlete Houston Griffith is taking his time through the recruiting process to make sure he makes the best decision. After all, he still has another season of high school football to play.

Speaking with Rivals.com, Griffith said some schools are ahead of others at this point, but hasn’t shortened his list yet.

“It’s still early,” Griffith told Rivals. “I haven’t even thought about narrowing things down yet. I’ll probably come out with a list in the summer.

“I don’t have a true list right now but Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida State and Tennessee (will be on the list).”

The 4-star athlete is from the Chicago area, but currently attends football powerhouse IMG Academy down in Bradenton, Florida. What position he’ll play in college remains to be seen, and he’ll have plenty of influence on that. Griffith said Ohio State and Notre Dame both believe he can play anywhere.

The Buckeyes and Fighting Irish seem to be in the closest contact with Griffith at this point in the process.

“I talk to Ohio State every day,” Griffith said. “Coach (Kerry) Coombs sends me a text. He just recently sent me a text about them preparing for Clemson. Coach (Urban) Meyer is a legend in college football and it’s just a great school with a lot of tradition.

“(Notre Dame) has been coming at me hard. I talked to the new defensive coordinator. When he got hired he texted me and said he wants me to be a big part of the 2018 class. He said he’s going to continue to recruit guys like me to build the program.”

Griffith is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 10 ATH and No. 83 overall player in the 2018 class.
