Jimbo Fisher Comments On LSU Coaching Rumors

Jimbo Fisher comments on the LSU coaching rumors following reports that the Tigers had been in contact with him.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher’s name is being attached to the LSU Tigers job.

With Les Miles’ ousting midseason, it was expected that LSU would have Fisher among its top choices as the Tigers’ next head coach.

Also to be expected, Fisher has remained mum about any rumors regarding him and the opening.

“I’m not going to talk about any jobs,” Fisher said on Tuesday after practice. “I love being at Florida State. I plan on being here, and I’m just getting ready for Syracuse and that’s the last thing I’m going to say on that. No offense to anybody or anything else. I love being here.”

On Tuesday, a report surfaced that LSU had been in contact with Fisher’s representatives, as well as North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora. As of now, it’s believed that the Tigers are leaning towards Fisher and interim coach Ed Orgeron to fill the full-time position.

Fisher, who’s in his seventh season with the Seminoles, was LSU’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2000-06 before assuming the same position on Bobby Bowden’s Florida State staff. FSU hired Fisher in 2007 as its head coach in waiting to replace Bowden, and he took the reins of the program in 2010. He has since led the Seminoles to one national championship and four first-place finishes in the ACC Atlantic, carrying the torch from the Bowden era into the future.
