3-Star RB Justus Woods Commits To Stanford

Three-star running back Justus Woods committed to Stanford on Thursday, giving the Cardinal their second recruit in the 2018 class.

On Thursday, David Shaw’s Stanford Cardinal picked up its second recruit for the 2018 class. Three-star running back Justus Woods, out of Charlotte, North Carolina, announced the decision via Twitter.

“I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for allowing me the opportunity to play Division 1 football,” he wrote. “I would also like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates and everyone who has supported me during this recruiting process. Thank you as well to all the programs that have extend [sic] me scholarship offers. After careful prayer and consideration with my family, I have decided to further my academic and athletic career at THE Stanford University! #FeartheTree #NerdNation”

In a follow-up interview with 247Sports, Woods explained that Stanford’s exceptional academics are what pushed the Cardinal over the edge.

“Stanford has the best of both worlds! If you’re a football player who wants to take advantage of a great education along with playing Division I football why wouldn’t you go there? I love the coaching staff there! They made me feel at home even though I was all the way across the country.”

A patient, downhill runner, Woods will give the Cardinal a solid receiving option out of the backfield. He joins 4-star quarterback Jack West in Stanford’s 2018 class.
