Four-Star Wide Receiver K.J. Hamler Commits To Penn State

Four-star wide receiver K.J. Hamler committed to Penn State on Friday, becoming the third wideout to pledge to the Nittany Lions and 16th player overall.

Penn State turned a 2-2 start into a Big Ten championship and Rose Bowl berth, and recruits are taking notice.

Coach James Franklin added another piece to his 2017 class Friday when four-star wide receiver K.J. Hamler announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions with a video on Twitter.

Hamler attends IMG Academy and is rated the No. 52 wide receiver in the nation. He’s a bit small at 5-foot-9, but that didn’t stop a number of top programs in the country from offering him a scholarship. Hamler makes up for his diminutive stature with speed that also helps make him an explosive returner.

However, he is coming off a knee injury that forced him to miss his senior season after surgery, but he’s expected to make a full recovery. He plans to enroll early and start classes at Penn State in January.

Hamler took his official visit to Happy Valley on Sept. 16, the day before Penn State beat Temple. He had official visits at Michigan State and Oregon following that trip, but ultimately decided to go with the Nittany Lions.

Hamler is the eighth four-star recruit to commit to Penn State. The Nittany Lions currently have the No. 15-rated class in the nation, with Big Ten foes Ohio State, Michigan and Maryland all ranking ahead of them.
