Latavious Brini Decommits From Georgia Bulldogs

Four-star recruit Latavious Brini decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs have lost a member of their 2017 recruiting class.

Four-star prospect Latavious Brini decommitted from UGA on Thursday morning, knocking the Bulldogs down to 15 commits in the cycle. Georgia now sits at No. 5 in the recruiting class rankings, having dropped one spot following the decommitment.

The Hialeah Gardens, Florida native released a brief statement regarding his decision.

“After talking [it] over with my parents, I decided to decommit from the University of Georgia. Thanks [to] James Coley and the Georgia coaching staff for everything.”

Brini, the No. 24 cornerback and No. 261 overall player in the nation, originally committed in July, and is scheduled to visit Miami for the Hurricanes’ matchup with rival Florida State — if the weather allows for it. The state of Florida is preparing for Hurricane Matthew to hit this weekend, and the status of several in-state games, as of post, is up in the air.

During his pledge to Georgia, Brini had worn Florida, Florida State and Miami gear and posted it on his personal Twitter account. He last visited Gainesville in mid-July for a recruiting camp, and took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables for an up-close look at the Hurricanes on Sept. 10.

At 6-foot-2, 180 lbs Brini brings great ball skills with very long arms. He suffocates wide receivers on the line of scrimmage and makes it difficult for them to create separation off the line. He’s very athletic and makes plays on the ball.
