LSU Football Recruiting Update – October 9, 2016

LSU football recruiting update as of October 9, 2016.

We have absolutely no idea if LSU and Florida will ever get around to playing this season. Hurricane Matthew forced the matchup to be canceled, and there doesn’t seem to be a concrete plan to make up the game.

Without having to make the trip to Gainesville this weekend, LSU running backs coach Jabbar Juluke visited 5-star recruit Cam Akers, the No. 2 running back and No. 4 overall player in the nation. Although, with Les Miles gone, it seems as though Ole Miss is the favorite to land the Clinton, Mississippi prospect.

Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond visited 4-star recruit Todd Harris, the No. 5 safety and No. 69 overall player in the 2017 class. Adding Harris would be a big move considering LSU already holds commitments from 4-star safety Grant Delpit and 4-star cornerback Kary Vincent Jr. The Tigers could add to their claim as DBU.

LSU is still after 4-star defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson, but he spent the weekend taking in the Red River Rivalry. Both Texas and Oklahoma are after his commitment.

The Tigers currently sit at No. 6 in the recruiting class rankings, but they’re only 153 recruiting points behind No. 4 Notre Dame. A commitment from a highly touted 4-star prospect — like Harris — would be enough to move LSU into the top four.
