LSU WR Malachi Dupre Announces Decision To Enter NFL Draft

LSU wide receiver Malachi Dupre will enter the 2017 NFL Draft, forgoing his senior season in Baton Rouge.

The LSU passing game should be improved in 2017 under new offensive coordinator Matt Canada, but it will have to do it without star wide receiver Malachi Dupre, who has decided to forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft.

The 6’4, 195-pound Dupre caught only 41 passes for 593 yards and three touchdowns in 2016, but his lack of productivity had a lot to do with the inefficiency at quarterback, something that has been a problem for the Tigers for quite some time.

Dupre is one of the top-ranked wide receivers to enter the draft, as his explosiveness and ability to spread the field along with his height makes him a major threat, with his speed adding an extra boost to beat defenders.

He leaves a LSU offense that is in for a makeover with the hiring of Canada, who brings with him a resume that includes vastly improving the Pittsburgh offense this past season. The Panthers finished No. 38 in the nation in total offense, averaging 446 yards per game in 2016, more than 68 yards per game that they gained in 2015 under previous offensive coordinator Jim Chaney.
