Luke Del Rio To Return For Florida Against Missouri

Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio will return in the game against Missouri this Saturday after suffering a knee injury in the middle of September.

The Florida offense is going to get a jolt back into its system, as starting quarterback Luke Del Rio will be under center when the Gators take on Missouri this Saturday in Gainesville.

Del Rio has been out since suffering a knee injury late in the game against North Texas on September 17. He had been solid for the Gators after winning the starting job in fall practice, throwing for 762 yards and six touchdowns with only two interceptions in the three games to start the season.

Austin Appleby filled in for the injured Del Rio in the Gators’ 38-28 loss to Tennessee, but played well in the first half to give Florida a 21-0 heading into the break. In the next game against Vanderbilt, Appleby struggled, throwing for only 144 yards and no touchdowns as the Gators pulled out a 13-6 victory in Nashville.

The Gators were scheduled to play this past Saturday against LSU, but with Hurricane Matthew moving up the east coast of Florida, the game was postponed and has yet to be rescheduled. Del Rio would have played had the game gone on as scheduled.
