4-Star TE Major Tennison Commits To Alabama Crimson Tide

Four-Star tight end Major Tennison committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday.

The nation’s No. 11 tight end is rolling … all the way to Tuscaloosa.

Major Tennison committed to Alabama on Sunday on the heels of his official visit with the Crimson Tide. He was one of a few big-time prospects in T-Town for Alabama’s 33-14 win over Texas A&M.

The Bullard, Texas native released a brief statement regarding his pledge to the Tide.

“I’m very excited to announce I have committed to the University of Alabama. God bless and Roll Tide!”

Tennison’s decision gave Alabama 209 recruiting points, bringing its total to 3,961 points. The Crimson Tide, once again, now have the No. 1 overall class in the 2017 recruiting cycle. Ohio State had regained the top spot after Oklahoma lost 4-star wide receiver Jalen Reagor to TCU, but now the Buckeyes are 103 points behind Nick Saban’s team.

Tennison originally committed to Texas on Oct. 14, 2015, but he decommitted from the Longhorns in July.

Of Alabama’s 22 total commits, four of them are 5-star recruits. Tennison was the 13th 4-star prospect to join the class.

At 6-foot-5, 228 lbs Tennison is a true receiving tight end. He can serve as a mismatch option out of the slot with both his size and ability to look the ball into his hands. He’s not the quickest off the line of scrimmage, but he’s the kind of guy Jalen Hurts can lob the ball to near the back pylon and trust to come down with it for six points.

The addition of Tennison gives the Tide two tight end commits now. The other is 4-star recruit Kedrick James, who pledged to Alabama on July 31. Whereas Tennison is more of a pass catcher, James is the better blocker and more of a factor in the running game. Together, they’ll compliment each other well in Lane Kiffin’s offense.
