Miami Football Recruiting Update – October 23, 2016

Miami football recruiting update for the week of Oct. 23, 2016.

After starting out 4-0, the Hurricanes have stalled and lost their last three games. Luckily for Mark Richt and his staff, that hasn’t seemed to affect their 2017 recruiting class too much.

Miami is still ranked No. 13 after adding another commitment Saturday night. Three-star prospect Amari Carter, the nation’s No. 59 safety and the No. 7 safety in the state of Florida, committed to the Hurricanes over Notre Dame.

Safeties coach Ephraim Banda played a huge role in landing Carter, and he’s playing a big role in the recruitment of 4-star cornerback Latavious Brini, too. Banda paid the former Georgia commit a visit this past weekend, and it seems as though Miami is going to edge out both the Bulldogs and the Florida Gators for Brini’s commitment.

Speaking of the Gators, they’re still trying to flip 4-star offensive tackle Navaughn Donaldson from the ‘Canes, but there’s been no such luck so far. It seems as though the signs are pointing toward Donaldson staying true to his Miami commitment.
