5-Star RB Najee Harris Arrives In Alabama Ending Recruitment

Five-star running back Najee Harris arrived in Alabama on Sunday, reaffirming his commitment to the Crimson Tide instead of flipping to Michigan.

It’s over. Arguably the most unique recruitment we’ve ever seen in the modern recruiting era has finally ended, as 5-star running back Najee Harris arrived in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, reaffirming his commitment to the Crimson Tide.

Harris was spotted in the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, as first reported by AL.com.

Nick Saban’s staff was given stiff competition from Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines, who tried to flip the nation’s No. 1 running back and No. 1 overall player from Alabama.

It had been reported that Michigan was confident it would add Harris to its class, while the Tide remained confident it would keep him in its class.

It was believed Harris would inform the media of his decision following the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Saturday, but he later denied that and claimed he would simply arrive on campus to inform the world of his decision.

Harris originally committed to Alabama in April of 2015, but an official visit to Ann Arbor on the weekend of December 11, right before the recruiting dead period set in, sparked up the possibility Harris would flip to Michigan.

He showed off his Wolverines gear on his Snapchat account during Christmas, and the buzz continued to grow.

However, flipping a recruit of Harris’ caliber from Saban is not an easy task. The Crimson Tide, who will play Clemson on Monday night for potentially another College Football Playoff championship, currently has the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the 2017 cycle with 26 commits, five of which are 5-star recruits.
