OrTre Smith Commits To South Carolina Gamecocks

OrTre Smith committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks in an exclusive video with Campus Insiders on Sunday.

Will Muschamp continues to prove he can recruit in Columbia.

The Gamecocks landed their third commit from a wide receiver in the 2017 class Sunday when 4-star prospect OrTre Smith committed to South Carolina in an exclusive video with Campus Insiders.

The video hinges on the three main pillars of Smith’s life: faith, family and football.

And when it came down to it, the Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina native felt like a part of the Gamecocks family thanks to Muschamp and South Carolina wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon.

“I just built a great relationship with Coach McClendon and Coach Muschamp. I just felt at home, a gut feeling, I felt like [South Carolina] is where I belong,” Smith said.

Muschamp has now landed five pledges in the last six weeks, and four of them — Smith included — are rated as 4-star recruits.

Aside from wanting to play close to home, another big reason Smith chose the Gamecocks is because of how important he felt.

“He said I’m a priority to him and the program. With the way he’s coaching and the team now, it’s headed in the right direction. So, I feel like I can contribute,” he said.

The nation’s No. 27 wide receiver and No. 200 overall player had Clemson, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina in his top five. He dropped the Gators to trim the list to four before deciding on the Gamecocks.
