4-Star ATH Russ Yeast Commits To Louisville Cardinals

Four-star athlete Russ Yeast committed to the Louisville Cardinals Monday night.

Lamar Jackson has the Cardinals playing a winning brand of football right now, and he may have a new weapon when he returns next season.

Four-star recruit Russ Yeast committed to Louisville on Monday night, giving the Cardinals 22 total commits in the cycle. Louisville now sits at No. 22 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings with 1,955 total recruiting points. Yeast’s decision added 197 points.

The Greenwood, Indiana native is ranked as the No. 23 athlete and No. 271 overall player in the nation. He released a statement regarding the pledge.

“First, I want to say how truly thankful I am to God for blessing me with the opportunity and talent to play the sport I love. I want to say thank you to all the schools and coaches that wanted me to be a part of their program. With that being said, I would like to announce that I have officially committed to the University of Louisville.”

Yeast’s commitment comes a couple of days after he officially visited Louisville for the Cardinals’ 54-13 manhandling of the NC State Wolfpack.

At 5-foot-11, 183 lbs Yeast can either cornerback or play wide receiver at the next level. He’s a superb route runner with a ton of elusiveness. With his ability to secure the ball and make guys miss, he’s a threat to pick up plenty of yards after the catch.

As a cornerback, he brings great ball skills and a lot of athleticism to the position. That said, the easier transition for him would be to play wide receiver at the collegiate level because he’s more technically sound on offense than he is on the defensive side of the ball.

Yeast holds additional offers from Alabama, Auburn, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Ole Miss and others.
