SEC Football Rankings – Week 6

SEC football rankings heading into Week 5 of the 2016 season. Alabama and Texas A&M still are on top, but unbeaten Tennessee is on their heels after a wild finish.

Who can blame Tennessee coach Butch Jones for breaking down in tears on the field. The Vols’ Joshua Dobbs hit Jauan Jennings on a 43-yard Hail Mary for a 34-31 victory just 10 seconds of game time after Georgia took the lead with a 47-yard touchdown pass.

Tennessee is off to its first 5-0 start since 1998, when it won its last national championship.

Here’s a look at the rest of the SEC after five weeks.

Week 6 SEC Football Rankings

14. Kentucky

If there’s such a thing as a moral victory, the Wildcats earned one in their 34-6 loss to Alabama after hanging around for quite awhile.

13. Vanderbilt

Allowed only 13 points against Florida, but only put up six of their own in a disappointing loss.

12. Mississippi State

The Bulldogs had a bye before facing Auburn next week.

11. South Carolina

Had Texas A&M on the ropes into the fourth quarter but couldn’t get closer in a 24-13 loss.

10. Missouri

Missouri really didn’t have much of a chance going into Baton Rouge in LSU’s first game after firing Les Miles.

9. LSU

The Tigers got an easy victory in Ed Orgeron’s first game as interim coach.

8. Auburn

Auburn followed up that thriller against LSU with a 58-7 win over Louisiana-Monroe.

7. Arkansas

Stepped out of SEC play and crushed Alcorn State by 42 points.

6. Florida

The Gators nearly stumbled at Vanderbilt and will need much better play moving forward if they want to compete in this conference.

5. Georgia

Nearly pulled it out against Tennessee despite not having Nick Chubb.

4. Ole Miss

Won 48-28 over a Memphis team that scored 77 points the week before.

3. Tennessee

The Vols have trailed by at least 10 points in the first half of all four of their games this year and come back to win.

2. Texas A&M

The Aggies got it done without Myles Garrett and two of their top receivers.

1. Alabama

The Crimson Tide picked up another win and will move on to face Arkansas.
