Tennessee vs. Texas A&M Prediction Roundtable – What’s Going To Happen

Tennessee vs. Texas A&M prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in the game between the Volunteers and Aggies.

The Tennessee Volunteers will put their perfect, 5-0 record on the line when they travel to face another undefeated team, the 5-0 Texas A&M Aggies, in College Station on Saturday afternoon. Tennessee is 2-0 all-time against Texas A&M. The Vols beat the Aggies 38-7 in 2005 and 3-0 in 1957.

Jalen Hurd’s injury will be the difference maker, which is a shame for Tennessee. It’s a tall order going into a battle like this without one of your best offensive players. Myles Garrett is going to play after missing last week’s South Carolina game. The Aggies will bottle up Alvin Kamara, and the Vols will lean on Joshua Dobbs a little too much. The late-game heroics fall through, and Tennessee drops a close one.*

*Assuming Tennessee isn’t the second-coming of the 2013 Auburn Tigers, a team of providence.

Doesn’t it seem like Tennessee is doing 80 mph in a 70 mph zone? It keeps looking over its shoulder, searching for cops, constantly riding with the foot on the brake just in case – all while in total disbelief that it’s still going this well. Sooner or later, the Vols are going to get stopped. Sooner or later, the ball is not going to bounce their way, and that time has come. Tennessee should have lost three times already, and it will lose to Texas A&M this Saturday. The Vols aren’t ready for College Station. Trevor Knight will work that Tennessee secondary all day and lead the Aggies to a 10-point win.

Tennessee can get away with a slow start against a rebuilding Va Tech, a banged up Georgia, and a Gators squad that had just lost its starting quaterback, but against this stifling Aggies defense, no way no how. On the other side of the ball, A&M has found its groove on the ground. So even if both teams don’t have all starters in place, I expect A&M to win, convincingly.

Will the Tennessee magic run out, or is this a team of destiny? These two teams are 2A and 2B in terms of talent and chemistry when it comes to the SEC. Myles Garrett will be a big boost to the Texas A&M hype train. Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs is a veteran that will not get intimidated by the 12th Man at Kyle Field, but the Aggies, with quarterback Trevor Knight leading the way, will find a way to pull this one out. A-G-G-I-E-S!
