4-Star RB Travis Etienne Updates Top 3 Schools

Four-star running back Travis Etienne has updated his top three schools, with a list that is now SEC-exclusive.

On Friday, 4-star running back Travis Etienne updated his top three schools, swapping out a wounded West Coast program for a home-state powerhouse.

Etienne’s top schools were previously Oregon, Tennessee and Texas A&M. The revised version now has LSU sitting in place of the Ducks.

Prior to the switch, Texas A&M was considered a heavy favorite to land Etienne, who had formally been pledged to the Aggies but decommitted on August 1. However, the addition of LSU throws quite a wrench into things for Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies staff. Could LSU entering the fold be attributed to the Matt Canada effect?

Canada, the new LSU offensive coordinator, has a history of developing running backs. While OC at Wisconsin in 2012 he coached future NFLers Montee Ball, James White and Melvin Gordon. And this past season, he lorded over a Pitt team that was No. 26 nationally in rushing offense (229.75 rushing yards per game). With All-SEC running back Derrius Guice likely headed to the NFL after next year, there’s certainly an opportunity  available for Etienne in Baton Rouge.

Hailing from Jennings, Louisiana, Ettiene is the Nation’s No. 17 running back. His only official visit from the past year came on Sept. 8 to Eugene. Since then, he took unofficial visits to both Baton Rouge and College Station. Granted, those visits to Oregon and LSU were prior to the firings of Mark Helfrich and Les Miles.

Etienne has not yet released an announcement date.
