There is never a dull week in the world of college football.
Three of the top contenders for a spot in the College Football Playoff—Clemson, Michigan and Washington—all fell on Saturday, delivering a speed bump to each team’s postseason aspirations. However, a spot in the CFP should remain in play for all three, although it will be interesting to see how the selection committee comprises its rankings on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, the Tide continued to roll, proving once again that there is a significant gap between Alabama and everyone else.

9. West Virginia (8-1) – Kennedy McKoy ran for two touchdowns, and the Mountaineers’ defense withstood a final pass attempt into the end zone to earn a tough 24-20 win over Texas. Skyler Howard passed for 269 yards, and the ‘Neers kept Texas running back D’Onta Foreman out of the end zone.
8. Utah (8-2) – Joe Williams ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns, and the Utes’ defense had 11 sacks in a 49-26 victory over Arizona State.
7. Wisconsin (8-2) – Corey Clement ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns, and the Badgers intercepted Illinois quarterback Jeff George Jr. four times in a 48-3 win.
6. Washington (9-1) – The Huskies’ 12-game win streak came to an end against USC, as the Trojans rode the arm of Sam Darnold and a stifling defense to a 26-13 win.
5. Louisville (9-1) – Brandon Radcliff rushed for three touchdowns during the Cardinals’ 41-point second half, helping Bobby Petrino’s squad beat Wake Forest 44-12.
4. Clemson (9-1) – Chris Blewitt made a 48-yard field goal with six seconds left to help lift Pitt to a 43-42 win, spoiling a record day for Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson.
3. Michigan (9-1) – Iowa freshman Keith Duncan kicked a 33-yard field goal as time expired to help deliver the Wolverines a 14-13 setback in Iowa City.
2. Ohio State (9-1) – Behind quarterback J.T. Barrett’s four touchdowns and Curtis Samuel’s three scores, the Buckeyes enjoyed a 62-3 lopsided win over Maryland.
1. Alabama (10-0) – Quarterback Jalen Hurts passed for career highs of 347 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 100 yards in less than three quarters of play in the Crimson Tide’s 51-3 rout of Mississippi State.
