There’s a new top-ranked team in the Pac-12 this week after Washington crushed a wounded Stanford squad on Friday night.
The Huskies’ easy victory makes them serious contenders for the College Football Playoff, as Chris Petersen’s squad does not exactly have the most difficult slate of the top contenders.
Meanwhile, Clemson is the team to beat in the ACC Atlantic after its win over Louisville, but the Cardinals are not out of the CFP equation. Plenty of football remains for Bobby Petrino’s squad to reassert itself in the picture.
In the Midwest on Saturday, Michigan and Wisconsin had an old-school Big Ten battle, while Ohio State continued its offensive surge.

8. Texas A&M – Trevor Knight threw for 206 yards and ran for 84 more, as the Aggies beat South Carolina 24-13.
7. Houston – Greg Ward Jr. threw for a career-high 389 yards and accounted for five touchdowns in just more than three quarters to help the Cougars beat UConn 42-14.
6. Louisville – After a rough first half, Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals scored on five consecutive possessions in the second half but could not complete the comeback in a tough loss to Clemson.
5. Washington – Jake Browning threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns, Myles Gaskin added 100 yards and two scores, and the Huskies easily dispatched of a wounded Stanford squad 44-6.
4. Michigan – Wilton Speight threw a tiebreaking, 46-yard touchdown pass to Amara Darboh, and Jourdan Lewis made a late one-handed interception to help the Wolverines knock off Wisconsin 14-7.
3. Clemson – Deshaun Watson threw for five touchdowns, including two in the final seven minutes, as the Tigers rallied for a 42-36 victory over Louisville after blowing an 18-point lead.
2. Ohio State – J.T. Barrett broke the school record for career touchdown passes with the third of his four scoring tosses, and the Buckeyes forced Rutgers to punt on each of its 10 drives in an easy win over the Scarlet Knights.
1. Alabama – Jalen Hurts threw two third-quarter touchdown passes to Calvin Ridley, and Ronnie Harrison had a 55-yard fumble return for a touchdown in a 34-6 victory over Kentucky.
