    The Ohio State Buckeyes will travel to Gampel Pavilion to take on UConn this Saturday, marking the third Big Ten opponent of the season for the Huskies.

    The Buckeyes (4-4) have responded to losing four straight games by winning their last two. Ohio State captured its latest win, a 74-50 drubbing of Air Force, at home Tuesday night. The Buckeyes never trailed in the contest and got off to a hot start, outscoring the Falcons 24-5 over the final 13:19 of the first half. Marc Loving led all scorers with 18 points and capped off a double-double with 10 boards. Looking ahead, Ohio State will host Northern Illinois on Dec. 16 before a marquee matchup at home with the 5th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats on Dec. 19. 

    The Huskies (5-3) will look to right the ship after losing three of four games to power five teams. Their latest loss came Monday at the hands of the Maryland Terrapins, a 76-66 defeat at Madison Square Garden for the Jimmy V Classic. UConn looked dismal in the first half and was lucky to only be down 16 points at the break. But the Huskies came roaring in the second half, highlighted by a 16-5 run to bring them within three with 2:49 to play. It proved not enough as the Terrapins made key shots and free throws down the stretch to hold on. Daniel Hamilton led the Huskies with a team-high 25 points, while Shonn Miller and Sterling Gibbs each chipped in 12 apiece. Looking ahead, UCONN will host UMASS-Lowell and Central Connecticut State before traveling to Austin to take on Texas Dec. 29.

    UConn and Ohio State will battle for the fifth time on Saturday. The last meeting between these two teams came in the second round of the 1992 NCAA Tournament, as the Buckeyes advanced with a 78-55 win.

    Prediction

    It’s the Gampel Pavilion. It’s UConn. The Huskies will defend their home court by keeping the Buckeyes off the boards and forcing Loving, who shoots 49 percent from the field, into some contested jump shots. Purvis and Hamilton will knock down some perimeter jump shots, but Hamilton will do a little more with the rock in terms of getting his teammates some open looks. Brimah’s presence down low will keep Ohio State from getting easy buckets, and UConn will avoid a second straight loss.

    • Four Huskies average 10 or more points offensivley led by sophomore guard Daniel Hamilton (13.9 ppg.) and junior guard Rodney Purvis (13.8 ppg.). Graduate forward Shonn Miller (12.1 ppg.) and graduate guard Sterling Gibbs (11.9 ppg.) are the others.
