Oklahoma cornerbacks P.J. Mbanasor and Antoine Stephens have decided to leave the Sooners program.

This hasn’t been the easiest of springs for Oklahoma and head coach Bob Stoops, as actions by players off the field have received a lot of press, including the arrest of quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Now, two players, P.J. Mbanasor and Antoine Stephens, both cornerbacks, have decided to transfer from the Sooners program.

“Antoine Stephens and also P.J. Mbanasor are guys that want to try and find something different. At this point that’s all I know of,” Stoops said.

Mbanasor was a redshirt last season after seeing playing time in 10 games in 2015, finishing with seven tackles and a pass breakup. Stephens, who redshirted in 2015, did not see the field at all during the Sooners’ 2016 season in which they went 11-2, won the Big 12, and defeated Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.

The Sooners were miserable against the pass defense, finishing 111th in the nation by allowing 269.4 yards per game, but with the return of Jordan Thomas along with Parnell Motley and Jordan Parker, the cornerback situation seems to be set in Norman, with no guaranteed playing time for Mbanasor or Stephens foreseen in the future.
