The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners will play host to the No. 6 Kansas Jayhawks Saturday in a rematch of one of the greatest games of the year.

The Sooners (20-3, 8-3 Big 12) bounced back from their upset loss to Kansas State by beating the Texas Longhorns in dramatic fashion as it came down to the final seconds. With the scored knotted at 60, Buddy Hield launched and connected on the game-winning three-pointer with 1.3 seconds left on the clock to give Oklahoma the 63-60 win. Each team shot 40 percent overall, but the Sooners had the edge from downtown (40.9 to 26.1 percent) and at the foul line (77.8 to 60.0 percent). Hield added to his player-of-the-year resume as he led all scorers with 27 points. Isaiah Cousins was the only other Sooner to finish in double-figures (17).

The Jayhawks (20-4, 8-3 Big 12) have put together a four-game winning streak and look primed to win their 12th straight conference title. Last time out, Kansas took care of business against West Virginia at home Tuesday night. The Jayhawks led by as many as 13 in the second half, but they saw their lead fall to four points midway through the half. However, Perry Ellis and Frank Mason III teamed up to extend Kansas’ lead back to double-digits and seal the win. The Jayhawks shot an impressive 56.1 percent from the floor and 81.5 percent from the charity stripe. Four of Kansas’ five starters finished in double figures as Ellis and Mason III led the way with 21 and 14 respectively.

Saturday’s rematch will mark the 210th meeting between Oklahoma and Kansas, with the Jayhawks leading the series, 143-66. The Sooners knocked off the Jayhawks, 109-106, in triple overtime the last time these two tipped off on Jan. 4.

Prediction

A rematch of two of the best teams in the nation with two of the best players in the nation. You can’t ask for much more than that! The Sooners will be looking for revenge on their home floor and Naismith Award favorite Buddy Hield will stop at nothing to make sure that happens. Expect Hield to go for 30-plus points, but he’ll get a solid effort from his supporting cast this time around. Perry Ellis and Co. aren’t going to back down though, which will make this one another instant classic. Hield sinks the game-winner this time around, though.
