The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners will travel to Morgantown, W. Va. Saturday to take on the No. 10 West Virginia Mountaineers in hopes of taking the season series.

The Sooners (20-5, 8-5 Big 12) have fallen on hard times as of late, having lost three of their last four games, including a stunning loss to Texas Tech Wednesday night. This one came down to the game’s final possession. With 14 seconds left, Isaiah Cousins drove the lane and lofted an alley-oop to Khadeem Lattin who couldn’t finish. Ryan Spangler missed the ensuing tip in and the Red Raiders corralled the rebound to seal the 65-63 upset. Oklahoma’s poor shooting from three (26.1 percent) and from the field overall (38.2 percent) were bested by Texas Tech, which proved to be the difference. Buddy Hield scored the Sooners’ first 10 points, but he was held to just six in the second half. Jordan Woodard was the high man for Oklahoma as he recorded a game-high 25 points.

The Mountaineers (20-6, 9-4 Big 12) are also struggling as they have dropped two of their last three games, including a 85-78 loss to Texas last time out. The Mountaineers took an early lead thanks to their press, but the ‘Horns shot themselves out of the deficit with the long ball and took a 45-36 lead into halftime. Texas led by as many as 15 in the second half before West Virginia closed the gap in the final minutes, but it wasn’t enough and the Mountaineers were sent home with the loss. West Virginia muscled their way to a 35-19 edge on the glass, but it turned the ball over 14 times compared to just seven for Texas. Tarik Phillip led the Mountaineers with 19 points off the bench, one point shy of his season high.

Oklahoma and West Virginia will matchup for the 11th time on Saturday, with the Sooners leading the series, 7-3. Oklahoma took the last meeting between these two schools, 70-68, back on Jan. 16.

    Prediction

Buddy Hield has to get his game back at some point, right? He will, but it won’t be in Morgantown. The Mountaineers will return home to a rocking WVU Coliseum and will crank up the pressure against the Sooners. The Mountaineers press will make Hield uncomfortable and prevent Oklahoma from doing anything it wants offensively. At the other end of the floor, expect the Mountaineers to leave their shooting woes in Texas and fire away with success. West Virginia will feed off its crowd and even the season series with Oklahoma.
