The Miners are coming off their best win of the year, beating Rice to remain in the hunt for bowl eligibility. QB Mack Leftwich is efficiently dishing to WR Jaquan White, while the defense is benefiting from the improved health of LB Alvin Jones and the insertion of DT Sky Logan into the lineup a month ago.
The Monarchs have momentum and bowl aspirations, too. They beat UTSA on the road last week, 36-31, behind two touchdowns apiece from 1,000-yard RB Ray Lawry and multidimensional QB David Washington. UTEP ranks last in Conference USA pass defense, with only one pick in the last five games.
In the battle for the .500 mark, ODU will outscore UTEP on the strength of its better overall collection of offensive talent. Washington and Lawry will be tough to stop, while receivers Jonathan Duhart and Zach Pascal rate a sizable edge on the Miner DBs.
Final Score: Old Dominion 34, UTEP 28, Line: Old Dominion -4.5, o/u: 56.5
